Get to Know Me

Warm, simple, human.

My Story

I grew up in a large family in Wisconsin—one of eight children in an environment where roles were clear and expectations were defined, especially for women. I learned early how to be responsible, dependable, and to do what was expected of me.

Quietly, though, I always questioned “the way things were.”

I didn’t always have the language for leadership, but I felt the pull toward it—especially in moments where something felt misaligned or unfair. I became someone people trusted, someone they could talk to, and someone who could hold both the hard reality and the future possibilities.

Over time, I came to understand something that still shapes my work today:

Leadership isn’t just about stepping forward. It’s about learning to trust your own voice when it would be easier not to.

I saw how many mission-driven leaders were carrying immense responsibility while quietly questioning themselves. I recognized that pattern because I had lived it. That’s what led me to create Salient Change.

Today, I partner with Executive Directors and nonprofit leaders as a thought partner, helping you think clearly, make confident decisions, and lead in a way that reflects both your values and your reality.

My career accelerated quickly.

Through 9.5 years in the Air Force and 14 years as a federal civilian, I was given increasing responsibility—leading large organizations, managing complex systems, and navigating high-stakes decisions that impacted people at scale. From the outside, I was steady and capable.

But internally, I was learning something deeper: managing risk is not the same as leading with courage, and true leadership doesn’t come from position alone. It comes from great leadership skills. That realization changed everything.

In 2024, I stepped into one of the most senior roles of my career.

And then I made a decision that surprised many people: I chose to walk away: not because the work stopped mattering but because alignment mattered more.

This is a photo of me, adding my name to a list of leaders that served before me and beside me. We were carefully selected to lead our enterprise from the watch center during world events.

Why Salient Change

"Salient change" is noticeable, outward, important change. It’s change for impact, to make a difference, to leave something better than it was. It’s lasting, it’s connected, it’s powerful

Recent national and international events opened my eyes and put me on notice. The world continues to change around me and some of that change is not what I want for me, my family, for humanity, or our planet. I now feel driven to DO something about it.

To prepare myself, I connected to my inner strengths, natural talents, and most importantly, to others that believe in a world full of kindness, empathy, strength in numbers, and the infinite power of hope. And it has been transformational and inspiring!

My most powerful strength and the thing I love most about being human is connection. As a coach, I get to not only connect to others on a deeper level, but also help others tap into their own strengths. And because I believe in the connection between all things, I believe that coaching and consulting at the community level will be my way of enacting positive change in the world.

As a consultant and speaker, I can share my experiences, energies, strategic mindset and purpose with individuals and organizations that are ready to lean into challenges and conflict.

I spent much of my career in federal service, where I became a senior executive leading organizations of more than 2,000 people and managing $80M+ portfolios. In my most notable role, I was one of five senior leaders entrusted with global enterprise responses to world events. And in my last assignment, I served as the Dean of Professional Development at the National Cryptologic University, shaping how leaders think, grow, and lead at scale.
